Samsung Blue Earth Smartphone

Take a walk to Stand 8a139 in Hall 8, at the Mobile World Congress, being held in Barcelona, and you will see Samsung's eco-friendly initiative - ‘The Blue Earth Dream’ reflected in their new products. Samsung Blue Earth Eco-Friendly Smartphone is one of them. There is plenty to talk about this mobile phone. Being the first solar powered cell phone in the world, this device has a solar panel located at its back. Samsung claims that there would be sufficient power to enable users to make a call at anytime and at any place.

The case of this phone is made up of recycled plastic from water bottles. This reduces carbon emissions and fuel consumption during the manufacturing process. The entire device and the charger too are free from harmful chemicals like Brominated Flame Retardants, Phthalate and Beryllium. Not just this, the entire packaging is done with recycled cardboard. This smartphone also has a special feature called “Eco mode”, which reduces screen brightness, turns off backlight and bluetooth, when not in use, in order to save power. Another feature that this phone offers is the “Eco-walk” function which uses a pedometer to tell the user how many steps he has walked and how much carbon dioxide emission has been reduced by his walking instead of driving. There is an indication of how many trees have been saved too.

Shaped like a shiny pebble with rounded edges, Samsung Blue Earth Touchscreen Mobile Phone features a full touch sensitive display as well. Other specifications are not known yet. However, “Three Cheers” to Samsung for this eco-friendly endeavour.

Nokia N78 mobile review

There’s so much to get excited about with Nokia N78. Nokia N78 the excellent display and capable camera, topped with Navi wheel, FM transmitter, GPS and Wi-Fi sure round off a nice deal.

Nokia N78 stacks up just below the top of the multimedia phone market. The megapixel count and screen size are probably the only things to stop it from directly competing with the Nokia N95. Nokia N78 is still quite close and even offers a few features that the omnipresent Nseries ruler lacks.

    Samsung Tocco

Samsung have released the Tocco, otherwise known as F480. We got to play with this over the weekend and had a good time finding out all its features and applications. Samsung have introduced this handset with Irish available as a main language. This is possibly the first time this has been done and makes certainly makes a welcome change.

    Samsung U900 Soul

Part of the “Soul”, which means Spirit Of ULtra, the Samsung U900 is a serious well designed handset, both in terms of looks but also functionality. The outer casing is finished with a brushed metal look which really makes it stand out, giving it even more appeal.

    Samsung G400

The Samsung G400 is part of the “Soul Active” range from Samsung. Features are plentiful, with loads of cool and useful attributes to the G400.The external screen measures 2.2 inches, but it is a touchscreen. It is easy to use and after a few minutes it becomes second nature as you play with it more and more. It is also fairly sharp with a 240 pixel by 320 pixel screen resolution. The Samsung P520 Armani Mobile Phone is a stylish looking handset with a high quality build. It has so such style and cool looks that it is arguably one of the nicest handsets available. Although it is not available on PrePay just yet, it is available on contract. This handset has achieved a good mixture of goods and functionality.

The New Samsung Mobile Phone: OMNIA

Samsung OMNIA is possibly the best ever smartphone that Samsung has ever built. OMNIA is definitely a better name than SGH-i900, which means ‘everything’ in Latin and ‘wish’ in Arabic. The OMNIA is essentially everything that you can possibly wish for on a Windows Mobile 6.1 smart phone. It brings together high performance business content, high-end design mixed with a full bag of dynamic multimedia rich experience.

    http://crave.cnet.com/i/bto/20080609/Samsung_Omnia1.jpg

The Samsung OMNIA is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and comes packed with MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word). Even though the OMNIA is 100% touch screen, Samsung included an optical mouse for ease of navigation - the optical mouse is similar to what you’d find on laptops.

Also included on the OMNIA is a 5-megapixel CMOS camera with auto-focus (AF), face and smile detection and auto-panorama shot. OMNIA comes in 8 or 16GB memory configuration and additional storage can be added via extendable slot. Of course, a smart phone called OMNIA can’t go without having a GPS, including navigation and geo-tagging capabilities, so you’d never get lost wherever you are.

As I mentioned earlier, the OMNIA is primarily touch-based so it makes perfect sense for Samsung to include its patented TouchWiz user interface. The OMNIA is Samsung’s first ever Windows Mobile smart phone to feature TouchWiz. TouchWiz lets you personalize the home window with unique widgets. The high-resolution touch-sensitive screen uses intuitive tap, sweep, drag and drop operations as well as an on-screen QWERTY keyboard. It also facilitates easy and convenient calling and texting with a dedicated dome key for controlling communications.

The Samsung OMNIA is ultra-slim measuring 12.5mm and has a platinum look finish. Samsung added details such as elegant hairline patterns on the back of the phone to bring the “perfection in style.”

Geesung Choi, President of Samsung Telecommunication Business, said: “I am very excited to introduce Samsung , a mobile device that truly delivers the best possible features for today’s busy, connected consumer. Samsung releasing Windows Mobile 6.5-powered Armani phone later this year

We weren’t impressed at all with the Samsung Armani Night Effect as it was a bit too cheesy for our taste with its multi-colored lighting scheme and excessive Armani branding. However, this latest news that Samsung will be releasing an Armani phone loaded with Windows Mobile 6.5 later this year has definitely got our attention.

Samsung Taiwan mobile marketing department director Ryu Jae-hyun revealed this in an interview with Taipei Times. A new Samsung Armani phone is indeed in the works and it will feature Microsoft’s latest mobile operating system that’s been updated to be more competitive in the touchscreen phone era.

Apart from that, we haven’t got the slightest clue as to what this new Armani phone will pack. Nevertheless, considering that Windows Mobile 6.5 is highly centered on its new touch interface, this new Samsung Armani phone will most likely be a full touchscreen device.

That’s it for now, folks, but stayed tuned as we’ll be keeping tabs on the latest developments on this one and other announcements regarding the all-new and improved Windows Mobile 6.5 OS.

Being the size of a credit card and a mere 9.9 mm in thickness, the Giorgio Armani-Samsung Phone fits sensuously into a user’s palm.

Furthermore, the Giorgio Armani-Samsung Mobile offers a microSD type external memory slot and comes with a Bluetooth® stereo headset.

Samsung's answer to iPhone mania: Omnia

Samsung Electronics South Korea released on early Monday preview details on the company's new smartphone, before the mania of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference begins in California.
The Samsung Omnia (SGH-i900) is similar in looks and function to the Samsung Instinct (SPH-M800), but with a few more bells and whistles.

For starters, it sounds like it has a very promising camera. With five megapixels and anti-shake technology, this may be the first camera on a phone that produces pictures you would actual think of printing, not just posting to Facebook. This is an improvement over the 2-megapixel cameras on both the first-generation iPhone and on the Samsung Instinct.
The touch-screen smartphone, which runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 and features Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Opera 9.5 as its Web browser, will also have Wi-Fi. That's something the Instinct also lacks.
Like the Instinct, the Omnia has visual voice mail, 3G capability, Bluetooth, an FM radio, and GPS functionality. The smartphone, of course, also doubles as a music player and, with 16GB, will be able to hold up to 4,000 songs or 100 minutes of video, according to Samsung.
How it will compare with the new 3G iPhone Apple is rumored to be revealing on Monday remains to be seen.
More details on the smartphone's specs will follow when the Omnia (SGH-i900) is officially unveiled on June 17 at Communicasia, the 2008 Singapore Expo. The Omnia (SGH-i900) will become available in Southeast Asia first and then be launched to other markets over the second half of 2008, according to Samsung.
